With 20 years' experience, Charles-Wesley Hourdé is an expert in the ancient arts of Africa and Oceania. He is also particularly interested in modern and contemporary art from the African continent.

Passionate about artworks and their history, he regularly organises exhibitions accompanied by well-documented catalogues and publishes scientific books.
​
His career has led him to head the African and Oceanic Art department at Christie's and to become a consultant for Sotheby's. He works regularly with several auction houses in France, including Giquello, Audap and Drouot Estimations.
In 2019, he co-founded a modern and contemporary art gallery dedicated to the African scene.

He operates a gallery in Paris and is a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts (CNE) and the Friends of the Musée du Quai Branly.
